How can I update the firmware of a Meinberg SyncBox?

The Meinberg ScynBox provides a web interface that you can use to configure and monitor the system. Furthermore a firmware reset and firmware updates can be performed via this web interface.

With the successor model, the SyncBox/N2X, a firmware update can be carried out with the Meinberg Device Manager software.

To establish an HTTP connection via the web interface to the SyncBox, enter the following line in your web browser (example): http://198.168.100.10. You have to enter the assigned IP address of your SyncBox here. The same interface appears for HTTP and HTTPS:

Below you can enter a username and password for configuration and monitoring. The Home screen will automatically reload every 30 seconds to update the information displayed. This should be noted when entering the username and password.

Default user / password:
root / timeserver

PTP status messages from the SyncBox are displayed on the Home screen. Now navigate via the menu to the "LOCAL" area to carry out the firmware update from here.

A firmware update can now be performed on the system in the "LOCAL" submenu. Ask the Meinberg support to get a current firmware package. Firmware updates for the SyncBox are always available in TGZ format. If you have downloaded a firmware update file on your computer, then select the file in this dialog and start the update procedure then.
