Question: Which overvoltage protection should we use? Which products Meinberg offers for this?

Answer:

Attachment plug with replaceable gas discharge tube for coaxial signal interfaces. The PTRON surge voltage protector is suitable for all of our GPS receivers.

The surge voltage protector for coaxial lines has to be installed in the antenna line. The shield has to be connected to the earth potential, by using the included mounting bracket. Make sure that the connection is as short as possible. P-TRON is equipped with two type-N female connectors. It has no dedicated input/output polarity or prefered mounting orientation.

Nominal discharge surge current: 50kA / Isn(8/20)µs Multiple strike capability: 20kA 10 times
