Bad Pyrmont, April 25, 2017 - Meinberg, a German manufacturer of the world's most powerful and versatile time and frequency synchronization equipment is proud to join the AIMS alliance and to support the transition from SDI to IP in the broadcast industry.

Meinberg joins the Alliance for IP Media Solutions (AIMS) and participates in an IP Showcase at the NAB 2017 in Las Vegas

AIMS is an industry consortium led by broadcast engineers, technologists, visionaries, vendors and business executives dedicated to an open-standards approach that moves broadcast and media companies quickly and profitably from legacy SDI systems to a virtualized, IP-based environment. Meinberg's GPS synchronized PTP grandmaster clocks can easily be integrated into a hybrid SDI/IP scenario, by serving PTP and traditional genlock signals like black burst or word clock generated from a common time base. The equipment can therefore play a vital role in hybrid SDI/IP environments, as well as in All-IP scenarios. See also AIMS press release welcoming new members at:

As PTP is the selected technology for synchronizing studio equipment over IP, Meinberg can provide GPS synchronized grandmaster solutions that are already well-established in other industries for many years in productive and mission-critical environments. Customers rely on Meinberg equipment because of its future-proof approach, scalability and flexibility and the long-term experience of Meinberg with key technologies like PTP, GPS, NTP and many more. The broadcasting industry benefits from this experience on the way to a SMPTE ST 2110 compliant All-IP infrastructure which uses the PTP profile SMPTE ST 2059-2.

A live demonstration of the current status of the SMPTE 2110 implementations from more than 40 different vendors can be seen at the NAB Show in Las Vegas which starts today.

In order to help everyone across the broadcast industry fully realize the benefits of IP, eight of the most esteemed broadcast, technology and trade organizations have united at NAB Show to create the IP Showcase, namely AES, AIMS, AMWA, EBU, VSF, SMPTE, IABM and MNA.

The IP Showcase booth is located in the North Hall of the LVCC, booth N4824. Meinberg will be part of this showcase with its LANTIME M3000, the M1000 and the SyncBox/N2X. The Meinberg grandmasters will deliver SMPTE 2059-2 compliant PTP timing to audio and video equipment of more than 40 different vendors operating in 12 racks. A seperate PTP demo will show and explain the functionality and the performance of PTP to the visitors.
