Starter Kit 1

The first PTP Starter Kit (Starter Kit 1) includes a Meinberg SyncBox/PTP, a client device that is synchronized by PTP and offers a number of legacy timing and frequency outputs like 1PPS, 10 MHz and IRIG (DCLS/AM). It has two so-called Capture Inputs which can be used to timestamp external events and can provide time synchronization to NTP/SNTP clients in your network. This version of the PTP Starter Kit is aimed at companies that already use classic approaches for their time and frequency synchronization needs, like GPS receivers and SNTP/NTP or IRIG B time code distribution.

Starter Kit 2

For Software Engineers or people that would like to dig deeper into the internals of IEEE 1588-2008, the Starter Kit 2 is a good choice to get down to the application level. The Meinberg PTP270PEX can be installed in a Linux PC and allows you to directly use PTP time synchronization in your application. Our bootable USB LIVE Memory Device will include drivers for the card and therefore enable you to try things out without having to install a single piece of software on your PC.

As an option you can order the IEEE 1588 PCI card of the Institute of Embedded Systems (InES) for PCI bus installation. This card is equipped with a full functional 10/100 mbps Ethernet interface.

Starter Kit 3

The Starter Kit 3 will include both the Meinberg SyncBox/PTP and the InES PCI card and provide you with a comprehensive test environment for checking out how PTP works and how to integrate it into your network or your own projects and products.

The availability of the PTP Starter Kit Versions will be limited and requires you to register for our PTP Starter Kit program.
